Leaving Cert Full-Time School

What I enjoy about Ashfield is the teachers treat you as their equal and they will always go out of their way to help you anytime you need it.

Having teachers who have written Leaving Cert. textbooks, corrected the Leaving Cert. and just  know the Leaving Cert. syllabus inside out has been so beneficial and it just helps to reassure you and helps take some of the pressure off because you know you are being taught by the best.

There is a really good support system here at Ashfield College and there is always someone you can talk to; everyone is so friendly, and I know I have made friends for life here at Ashfield College.

Prefer to learn from home? Ashfield College also offers a Full-Time Online School, combining the flexibility of remote learning with the structure and teacher support of our Full-Time School.

Students can enrol online for 5th Year, 6th Year and Repeat Leaving Cert programmes.

Ashfield College teachers are highly qualified subject specialists with extensive experience preparing students for the Leaving Certificate.

In our Full-Time School, teachers are responsive, supportive and focused on helping each student progress with confidence. They combine a genuine love of their subjects with a proven record of success in second-level State Examinations.

Many of our teachers are published authors of Leaving Cert textbooks, while others are Leaving Cert State Examiners. Several are also involved in teacher training at a national level.

Our classes are supported by the Ashfield College Manuals, professionally produced resources written by our own teachers specifically for use in our Full-Time School.

Manuals are updated annually to reflect the most current Leaving Cert exam papers and syllabus changes. They cover the full syllabus and include clear explanations, exam-style questions, model answers, and subject-specific exam technique.

These manuals are included in school fees and are not available to purchase in shops.

We take pride in helping students choose the best route to achieve their ambitions, supported by expert teaching, careful subject choice, structured study planning and guidance when selecting third-level courses.

Many students in our Full-Time School progress directly into their course of choice, supported by consistent feedback, strong study habits and a focused learning environment.

Ashfield College’s Leaving Certificate programme offers a choice of 24 subjects at Higher and Ordinary level.

Unlike many schools, timetables in our Full-Time School are designed to suit each student. This means subject choices are as unrestricted as possible, allowing students to build the best combination of subjects for their goals and strengths.

This means students can begin homework and revision while still in school, with access to teachers for support and clarification when needed.

The Study Hall is continuously supervised by our Study Mentors, helping to create a calm, structured and distraction-free environment, a key part of how our Full-Time School supports consistent progress.

Students complete assessments at key points throughout the school year. We treat assessment as a valuable feedback tool to help students, parents and teachers understand progress in each subject.

Following each assessment period, students receive detailed, practical guidance on what is going well, what needs improvement, and exactly what to do next. Reports are issued for parents after each set of assessments.

In our Full-Time School, we encourage students to view assessments as stepping stones, building confidence and steady progress towards Leaving Cert exams.

In Ashfield College’s Full-Time School, students are at the heart of everything we do. We work hard to ensure every student feels supported, valued and part of the school community.

We provide a wide range of pastoral and academic supports because we believe students achieve best when they feel well, confident and understood.

Our in-house Support Team includes one-to-one support from Year Heads, our Career Guidance Counsellor and Study Mentors. Throughout the year, students also benefit from talks, seminars and wellbeing initiatives, including our annual Wellbeing Month.

Students who do not attend our Full-Time School can join Ashfield College to study an additional subject that may not be available in their own school.

This option supports students who want to broaden their subject choices and maximise CAO opportunities.

Subjects may include Design & Communication Graphics (DCG), Agricultural Science, Business, Applied Maths and Classical Studies. The syllabus is typically completed in one academic year.

Classes take place after the usual school day (often from 5pm onwards), usually two evenings per week.
