Peter Jackson BSc, HDipED
Subjects: Agricultural Science, Biology & Chemistry
Peter Jackson is a vastly experienced teacher of Biology and Chemistry to Leaving Cert Higher level and this year he is adding Agricultural Science to the list of subjects he is teaching at Ashfield College. He has been teaching in St Columbus College, Dublin for many years and has taught a multitude of Revision classes over the last 30 years. Peter is the author of several Leaving Cert text books in both Biology and Chemistry and has extensive experience as an Examiner for the State Exams Commission.
Leaving Cert Biology Subject Content
The Leaving Cert Biology course consists of the study of a variety of aspects of Biology under the following headings:
- The Characteristics of life
- Cell structure
- Fungi, amoeba and bacteria
- Reproduction of humans and the flowering plant
- Breathing system
- Human digestion
- Excretion system
- Human immune system
Leaving Cert Biology Exam Structure
The Leaving Cert Biology examination at higher and ordinary level is three hours duration. The exam paper is divided into three units;
- Section A – Six short questions (answer five) 100 marks.
- Section B – Three questions on practical activities (answer two) 60 marks.
- Section C – Six long questions (answer four) 240 marks.
